On the road

Road tripping is a very under appreciated form of travel these days. Everyone is in a hurry to get from "A" to "B" on the map. The idea of getting out and seeing the country seems almost antiquated today.

The American landscape is vast in a way that I believe only someone from another country can really, truly appreciate. I've currently been on the road for over 15 hours. Awake for most of that. We have crossed a part of the great plains, the mighty Mississippi River, and are currently working our way through the Smoky Mountains. Impressive? Yes. Awe inspiring? At times.

Even at that, I'm conflicted within myself. These great, amazing, might parts of our national landscape are being flown through at 70 mph on a superhighway. I desperately want to get where I'm headed, but mourn the lost chance to get there slowly and learn more about these places.

Blogging gone mobile

My hope is that the availability of an iPad/iPhone and mobile Internet will keep me blogging more frequently. The question is, will this make my already suspect writing skills even that much more watered down? Probably.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to resurrect a blog you haven't interacted with in over five years? No, you don't. You are someone who keeps up with your blog. I, however, am not. I am here to tell you that it is infuriatingly complicated. I'm going to try this blogging thing again. Thank god for mulligans.
